Who am I?

This being a new presentation for a niche part of my work, I wanted to start off by introducing myself and why I have a new website.

My name is Ricky Davis and I’m a photographer and a writer based out of Chattanooga, TN area. I began my photography journey back in 2009 as I was preparing to release my first ever book of poetry entitled Ramblings of a Poet Gone Mad. It was a book I self-published through a company back then and I wanted to take some photographs to go along with some of the poetry in my book.

The book bombed. It was one of those companies that got their money up front. I hated the cover of it and nothing was ever done to really promote it. The awesome thing was I found I loved photographing people.

With photography, I’ve spent the past 16 years photographing people. I’ve mostly worked in the realm of model photography. My photography style has ebbed and flowed and I’ve done a lot of different styles of work, depending on clientele. Darker themed work has always been one of my passions in photography when I’ve worked on personal projects.

As I’ve gotten older, and my tastes and vision has grown, I’ve wanted to niche down to an extent. My work with TRD Photography has meant so many different things to different people, it’s become clear that with that brand, I can’t niche it down and focus it. Every time I have attempted it, I get previous clients or potential clients coming to me about an area outside what I wanted to focus it around. So I’ve decided to let it be it’s thing and I want to build my darker work in photography, experiment with some artforms I’ve not really messed with, and work on my writing more all under one place because they tie together.

So essentially this page is going to be my darker themed work, whether that be in photography, my writing, or even experimenting with other art mediums. I want to use this to grow and share my growth with those interested in darker themed work. I hope you’ll stick around for it.
